Shameless plug...

Way back when, I was blogging here about light dimmers in a fancy bathroom. The bathroom happened to be the scene where we were shooting our new music video with Eric Stoltz. That was way back in June and the final product is finally here. It just goes to show that planning and whittling away at something a little bit at a time can produce great results. Oh--and Happy Friday!!

Happy Labor Day!

Realistically speaking, I would love to be here or here today. If I'm daydreaming, my mind always goes here. But alas, I'm working on Labor Day. Enjoy this quick and quirky organizing video I made yesterday.

Editing Magic

Yay for iMovie! This is the first video that I've edited (and it only took half a day:). It debuted in my monthly newsletter that got sent out this morning (sign up here if interested). In the video, I explain what happens in Bneato Organizing Boot Camp. I had so much fun making it and putting it together (the editing is supposed to be willy nilly). The video highlights that organizing can be fun (which is important for me to get across to clients). Oftentimes, the misconception is that filing paperwork is boring but I like to show folks that it doesn't have to be! Play music, drink some wine (just not too much)! Organizing is not about perfection--it's about customizing it to fit your lifestyle.

Letter Openers Rule!

Dude! Letter openers rule. You probably will not believe me until you've tried it for yourself but I swear by them. And I'm not talking about using a dull knife or a rusty one that you've had since college. I suggest picking up a brand-spanking-new one from Staples (or get a batch custom made to give away to clients). Mine are made from corn plastic which is environmentally friendly.

If you have been putting off a giant stack of unopened mail, grab a letter opener and get 'er done!

How To: Organize A Purse

Not being able to find an item when we need it is a big cause of frustration. Not only can we not find the item, it usually happens when we’re already running behind or just about to leave the house. To prevent wasting time looking for items in our v. large purse, we’ve organized our purse to suit our needs. Because our big ‘ole red purse (thank you Jessica Simpson) has 5 smaller compartments and one big compartment--we’ve assigned each space a specific function. For items we use all the time, the outside compartments are homes for things like business cards, a cell phone and chewing gum. The inside pockets hold items like pens and our sunglasses with the biggest compartment holding our wallet, notebook and bigger ticket items. Now, when we go to use our cell phone or put on lip gloss, we know just the pocket to look in. When we’re done, back it goes. How do you organize your purse? Is it a big one like ours or do have an extremely organized smaller purse?
