When I come home after a busy day of work, my tendencies are to dump items wherever they land. But when that happens, I'm usually left searching frantically for my keys, phone or sunglasses when I'm ready to leave again. In order to make life easier, I purchased a vintage oval plate from the thrift store. It serves as a spot for important items to land. If I walk past the spot and it's empty--I know I'm in trouble. It helps to have a specific spot for belongings--that way here's no question where the keys, etc. should live. It's such a sweet feeling to be running out the door and everything is right where you need it to be.
