Good Habits

I'm a little embarrassed to admit--I love reading self-help books. I usually order mine online so I don't have to be seen buying them in the bookstore. I know--it's silly (but don't we all have a hang up--or two?). Reading the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People has been on my "to read" list for almost a year now. I finally got around to finding it online at the local library and put a hold on it. The Edendale Branch called me today to let me know it's ready to pick up. While I've always been an effective and efficient person, lately I've felt like I've been lagging a little. It may have something to do with how I have been starting my days (hitting the snooze instead of going to exercise boot camp). And while I'm busy with my organizing and blogging, I still haven't gotten my organizing boot camp to where I'd like it to be (up and running). I think on a subconscious level, I knew I'd have to start being highly effective as soon as I was done reading the book (and maybe I just wasn't ready yet). You have to understand that I read The Easy Way to Quit Smoking (Allen Carr) and quit as soon as I turned the last page (and I was a heavy smoker for 7 years). So tomorrow, a new chapter in my life starts. New habits, new ways of doing things and the start of becoming highly effective...

  1. I read that book years ago when it first came out and thought it had some good suggestions. Now I cannot remember why I did not try t follow but I totally agree with you. Once you read it then you have to do it otherwise it causes stress.
